Perceptron Bench

Click switches to set the inputs. Drag or scroll the knobs to set the weights, or hover over a knob and use its − / + buttons (they move it by the Step size) (arrow keys work too, double-click resets to 0). The meter shows the summed current.

Reset

The learning rule is the one you'd follow by hand. If the needle points the wrong way, turn the knob of every switched-on input, plus the bias, one step toward the correct side. Training keeps going until each example swings the needle past the minimum on its correct side. On Auto the minimum is 2 × the step size, so a bigger step aims for a bigger swing. Choosing a new example set resets the knobs to 0.

Circuit values

The ends of each pot go to +V and −V and the wiper gives −V…+V. When its switch is on, the wiper feeds the shared summing node through its own resistor. The meter runs from that node to the battery's center tap. A high meter resistance shrinks the needle swing but doesn't flip its sign.
